Résumé et principaux points soulevés par e‐participants :

Background:

On behalf of CTA and the other partners, we wish to announce the start of the e-discussion for the international conference “Innovations in Extension and Advisory Services: Linking Knowledge to Policy and Action for Food and Livelihoods”. A rich discussion is expected, which will lead to clear and useful recommendations that can feed into the conference.

A Google Groups has been set up. All registered users of the conference website are invited to be part of this e-discussion. Since it is an open group anyone else who is interested may join the group and the discussion too.

The group can be accessed at groups.google.com/group/extension-conference-2011.

There is a phased approach to this e-discussion. In Phase 1, 4 rounds were held, each round focusing on one of the four conference themes:

  • Policy
  • Capacity Development
  • Tools and Approaches
  • Learning Networks

In Phase 2, we anticipate 1-2 rounds of discussions, crosscutting the themes.

The e-discussion started on September 5, 2011 with a discussion around the theme “Policy”. Questions/cases were posted one day prior to the start of the discussion. The discussion itself was open for 2 - 4 days and synthesized at the end. Each discussion was a ‘mixed’ one. Francophone participants could post/reply in French, Anglophone participants in English. Each discussion was moderated and summarized from time to time in English and French.

Phase 1 was finished before the end of September and Phase 2 conducted in the first half of October.

Sincerely,
The moderators: Joost Lieshout, Mercy Akeredolu, Pepijn Jansen
